The ESTES Interdisciplinary Pelvic Trauma Course underscores the criticality of collaboration in managing high-energy pelvic trauma cases. These patients frequently present with severe injuries, necessitating intricate decision-making pathways. The primary objective of this course is to highlight the pivotal role of interdisciplinary approaches in treating pelvic trauma patients.

Central to the course curriculum are key focal points including Resuscitation Strategies, Surgical Bleeding Control, Management of Concomitant Injuries, Endovascular Techniques, Soft Tissue Management, Complex Reconstructions, and Strategies of Surgical Reconstruction. By emphasizing these areas, the course aims to equip healthcare professionals with the comprehensive skills and knowledge essential for effective patient care and optimal outcomes in pelvic trauma scenarios.

This course is tailored for trauma surgeons, orthopaedic trauma surgeons and clinicians of all trauma related specialities involved in the different stages of management of high energy pelvic trauma. Their seniority is ideally at the senior fellow, or junior consultant level upwards.

The course integrates two essential modules (2 Days): Emergency Management (Module 1) and Complex Reconstructions (Module 2). Through a blend of theoretical foundations of interdisciplinary knowledge, participants will establish a comprehensive understanding of the stepwise management of complex pelvic trauma. Integral to the learning experience are engaging case discussions and interactive sessions with experienced faculty members.

This module provides participants with a deep dive into the intricacies of reconstruction strategies of displaced/dislocated pelvic ring injuries focusing on optimal timing for surgery, complex acetabular reconstructions and associated considerations, empowering them with the knowledge and skills needed for effective clinical decision-making in complex cases. Additionally, it covers considerations specific to geriatric patients and relevant complications that may arise during these procedures. By exploring these topics, participants gain insights into nuanced approaches for effective patient care in diverse clinical scenarios.
